Austin Leitner Sets Fast Time in Route to CCS Super Limited Win at Hickory Motor Speedway

Graham, NC 4/9/12- Round two of the 2012 CCS Super Limited Late Model Series at the Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, North Carolina was all Austin Leitner as he piloted his #5 Mid-State Roofing machine to victory winning the Easter Bunny 50 after setting fast time during qualifying. Jody Measemer finished second after putting pressure on Leitner early and often for the win, while Cole Timm finished third taking home the last piece of hardware on the night.

Leitner made his win look easy at times setting the fastest time during practice, qualifying and then grabbing the lead early after redrawing the second place starting position after the series mandatory redraw of the top five qualifiers. Justin Carroll would lead the field to green after his good luck redraw of the pole position.

Just twelve laps in the fifty lap event #02 Walker Yates went for a single car spin slowing the race for the first time of the night. As the race drew closer to the halfway point several cars began fading such as #57 Just Carroll and #84 Kyle Beattie after strong qualifying runs. Another solo spin this time by #4 Tate Fogleman slowed the field on lap twenty-seven. The restart to go back racing on lap twenty-eight proved to be too much for a pair of drivers as #16 Hayes Goodson and #22 Tyler Howell got together coming out of treacherous turn four. Both cars would suffer damage and be forced to the pits for repairs prior to rejoining the field.

The final twenty-two laps stayed clean and green as Leitner became the second CCS Super Limited Late Model Series winner in history. Cole Timm’s third place finish was good enough to move him to the championship point standing over Tate Fogleman and Walker Yates.

“This is awesome being here in victory lane at a historic track like Hickory,” noted Leitner in victory lane. “We had a good car all day here and it showed in qualifying and again in the race. I’m looking forward to Orange County in a couple of weeks so we can do it again.”

Next up for the CCS Super Limited Late Models is the Orange Blossom Special 50 at the Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, North Carolina on Saturday April 21st as the series stays in conjunction with the PASS South Series super late model tour in 2012.
